Friends of the Park was formed in June of 2003 by Dianna Gorrell & Dana Alerding, wives of 2 of the
Russellville park board members At the time. It was formed At that time to help off-set funds for the park
board, but in December of 2003 the newly appointed town council revised their code book and abolished the
park board. Friends of the Park decided to move forward and help the community as a whole by trying to
promote festivals and events At the Russellville Community Park. We formed a board and elected officers,
developed a motto & purpose, wrote by-laws and articles of organization and filed for not for profit status and
was granted it under 501(c)(3) in Feb of 2004. We do not have a membership fee, we are all volunteers and
all of the money for Friends of the Park comes from donations and  events that we host in Russellville,
Roachdale and Bainbridge Community Park's and in Town.  We are promoting tourism to Russellville,
Roachdale and Bainbridge through the Putnam County Convention & Visitor's Bureau & Indiana State
Festivals Assoc. Website‘s. We are members of the I.S.F.A.  We have had several email's and phone calls
wanting information on our festival do to our ISFA membership.
We are always needing volunteers so if you have a few hours a week in the summer that you can devote to
the children of our communities give us a call or email.
God Bless the world of Volunteers
